This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design, construct, deploy, and uphold robust services across the complete technology stack.
• Create high-performance Go microservices and data processing pipelines.
• Execute API design, database modeling, migrations, event workflows, and mobile UI/UX.
• Architect backend systems capable of high concurrency to manage substantial request volumes and data throughput.
• Engage in on-call rotations for the systems you build.
• Define and uphold client-server agreements.
• Oversee API versioning, offline synchronization states, idempotency, retries, and authentication lifecycles.
• Develop and sustain native mobile features utilizing Swift/SwiftUI or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose.
• Release mobile updates to the App Store or Google Play.
• Compose Architecture Decision Records, system design specifications, and technical documentation.
• Perform detailed and actionable code reviews.
• Operate independently in a fast-paced engineering environment with minimal oversight.
• Organize tasks and make decisions aligned with established goals.
• Over 6 years of professional experience in developing production software.
• More than 6 years of production backend experience in Go, Java, Kotlin, Python, Rust, Node/TypeScript, Scala, C++, or a similar language, serving as the primary backend technology.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage backend services at scale, supported by production metrics such as RPS, data volume, and concurrency.
• In-depth expertise in either iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) or Android (Kotlin/Jetpack Compose).
• At least one mobile application personally launched on the App Store or Google Play, with maintenance after launch.
• Hands-on experience in designing client-server protocols, including offline functionality, push/pull synchronization, idempotency keys, and token management.
• Advanced proficiency in PostgreSQL, including complex queries, indexing, data modeling, and schema migrations.
• Practical on-call experience for systems you have personally built and deployed.
• Daily usage of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot, with critical assessment and refactoring of generated code.
• Exceptional written English skills for technical design documents, RFCs, and code reviews.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to attend remote meetings during evening hours when necessary.
• Must be a resident of Canada and eligible to work in Canada.
• Capability to work during standard Pacific Time Zone business hours.

• Go production experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Desired experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Kinesis, SNS/SQS, Kafka, NATS, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Postgres performance optimization, offline-first architecture, mobile security, push notifications, Kotlin Multiplatform, Fastlane, Bitrise, Xcode Cloud, agency/studio/consultancy work, technical writing, or contributions to open-source projects.
