This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malta.
• Conduct functional, regression, smoke, integration, and exploratory testing of native mobile applications.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test cases, test scenarios, and test data.
• Identify, document, and monitor defects throughout the development lifecycle.
• Work collaboratively with developers, product owners, and other QA engineers to investigate and resolve issues.
• Engage in release validation and provide insights on application quality.
• Recognize repetitive and regression scenarios that are suitable for automation.
• Design, maintain, and execute automated tests for native Android and/or iOS applications utilizing Appium and TypeScript.
• Utilize Mocha for test organization and execution.
• Construct and sustain scalable, reusable, and reliable mobile automation frameworks.
• Implement automation best practices including Page Object Model (POM), reusable utilities, appropriate waits, robust locators, and effective assertions.
• Run automated test suites both locally and using BrowserStack.
• Conduct cross-device and cross-platform testing.
• Analyze automation failures and carry out root-cause analysis.
• Maintain and enhance automated regression coverage as new features are introduced.
• Continuously seek opportunities to replace suitable manual regression scenarios with automated tests.
• Initially divide the role approximately 50% manual testing and 50% automation, transitioning towards around 80% automation and 20% manual testing.
• Proven experience in automating both Android and iOS applications.
• Experience in developing or enhancing an Appium automation framework.
• Understanding of Page Object Model (POM) and automation design patterns.
• Familiarity with parallel execution and cross-device testing.
• Knowledge of Node.js, npm, and TypeScript configuration.
• Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Familiarity with API testing is a plus.
• Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Over 3 years of QA experience with a significant emphasis on automation and/or mobile testing.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with Appium and TypeScript.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Mobile automation (e.g., Appium) is preferred but not required.
• Fundamental knowledge of security testing is preferred.
• Experience in microservices testing is a nice-to-have.
