Senior Mining Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead and assist multidisciplinary teams in the preparation and execution of scoping studies, preliminary economic assessments, pre-feasibility studies, and feasibility studies for clients in the minerals sector.

• Oversee the comprehensive scope of technical studies, ensuring that tasks are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

• Combine technical, permitting, and financial analyses to enhance project value.

• Guide complex studies through the stage-gate processes established by clients.

• Develop and implement effective study management techniques.

• Ensure resource allocation aligns with the study's requirements.

• Manage a diverse team of professionals, overseeing project scope, schedule, and budget.

• Execute effective change management practices.

• Act as Qualified Person or Competent Person for relevant study sections under NI 43-101, SEC S-K 1300, and JORC standards.

• Organize project site reviews as necessary.

• Facilitate project meetings, including scheduling, budget estimation, and workload forecasting.

• Engage in business development activities to identify and pursue opportunities in mining studies.

• Provide training and mentorship to team members.

• Travel for business development and for domestic or international fieldwork as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, metallurgy, geology, or a related field within the minerals industry.

• At least 10 years of relevant experience in studies.

• Strong knowledge of technical reporting standards (S-K 1300, NI 43-101, and JORC).

• Comprehensive understanding of study project execution, including the phases of PEA, PFS, and FS.

• Proven leadership abilities in project management and/or project development.

• Demonstrated skills in project organization and management.

• Experience in cost and financial modeling, along with CAPEX/OPEX estimation.

• Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng.), Registered Member (SME or MMSA), or a similar credential to qualify as a Qualified Person (QP) or Competent Person (CP).

• Proficient in Excel and MS Project or similar scheduling software.

• Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

• Knowledge of CAD drawing reviews, such as Adobe or Bluebeam.

• Familiarity with mine planning and modeling software packages.

• Possess a current, valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship from Barr, either now or in the future.

• Experience in mining and/or mineral processing operations is preferred.

• Relevant experience with EPC/EPCM, mining construction, or successful completion of studies is preferred.

• Experience in business development is preferred.
