Senior Managing Editor, Content and Test Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic and operational guidance for assessment content and production editorial teams.

• Responsible for maintaining editorial quality throughout the entire assessment lifecycle—from item creation to final production.

• Lead, mentor, and nurture a multidisciplinary team of assessment content and production editors.

• Supervise the editorial review process for test items, passages, graphics, manuals, and technical documentation.

• Manage production editing for both paper-based and digital materials, including test books, ancillary materials, reports, and operational documentation.

• Champion the responsible integration of AI tools for copyediting, style adherence, and quality assurance while upholding human editorial judgment.

• Create scalable workflows that accommodate high-volume, concurrent deadlines; monitor quality and turnaround metrics to promote continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.

• Over 15 years of professional editing experience, specifically in educational assessment, test development, or complex technical publishing.

• Proven experience in people management within deadline-driven environments.

• Exceptional proficiency in Chicago, APA, and AP style; experience editing assessment items, technical reports, and content for high-stakes testing.

• Demonstrated ability to utilize AI tools to enhance and streamline editorial workflows.

• Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making capabilities.
