Senior Manager, Workday HRIS

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Provide functional leadership on multiple concurrent Workday projects across various functional areas, including Core HCM, Core and Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Absence Management, Talent, Performance, and Recruiting.

• Offer functional leadership and guidance to developers and analysts, acting as the functional design authority for Workday HCM solutions, with the authority to challenge, redirect, or decline requests that do not meet established architecture standards, scalability requirements, or compliance obligations.

• Establish and maintain Workday design governance to ensure consistency and scalability across solutions, exercising decision-making authority over design approvals and exceptions.

• Lead Solution Workshops and Client Confirmation Sessions for functional areas throughout the initial discovery, design, and testing feedback phases, as well as operational improvement requests, ensuring effective and accurate design and configuration of the delivered solution.

• Serve as a sounding board and provide ad-hoc advice for HR Product, HR Strategy & Enablement, and HRIS leads, acting as an advocate and escalation point for the functional team to ensure issues are effectively addressed.

• Assist the team in understanding and adhering to methodology for delivering Workday enhancements and projects, providing feedback to relevant parties internally to support ongoing enhancement of tools and processes, while encouraging team members to keep these tools up to date.

• Mentor junior team members by providing guidance that enables them to acquire new skills and functional knowledge, lead stakeholder sessions, and configure solutions.

• Ensure cohesive structures and project communications are established for cross-functional delivery between project focus areas and others including HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking, Integrations, Organizational Change & Training, Data Conversion, Reporting, and more as applicable.

• Drive enhancements and new feature rollouts within HCM, prioritizing usability, automation, and compliance while leveraging AI-enabled features.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex configuration, data, system, and performance issues.

• Possess expertise in creating, optimizing, and troubleshooting Workday calculated fields to meet complex business logic and reporting requirements.

• Manage and lead regular HRIS calls with support areas.

• Collaborate with HR Product, HR Strategy & Enablement, Integrations, Reporting & Analytics, QA, and PMO to drive team and individual efforts toward achieving high end-user satisfaction levels, while providing feedback that facilitates team member growth and development.

• Ensure that issues and risks are documented and openly discussed with relevant stakeholders.

• Support the functional delivery team by owning the Workday functional aspects of estimating project levels of effort, resource requirements, and timelines in relation to other initiatives and resource availability. This includes estimating and communicating project changes and change orders with vendors across all HRIS-supported functional areas, as well as creating and maintaining or facilitating the creation and maintenance of documentation, process diagrams, and configuration workbooks.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and/or successful completion of relevant industry coursework.

• Six years of HRIS experience.

• Three to five years of experience managing teams.

• Three to five years of experience in one or more full lifecycle(s) of Workday HCM Implementation(s) and/or large-scale Workday HCM optimization for large global organizations.

• Two years of experience leading global Workday projects.

• Current Workday HCM Certification (Preferred).

• Certified and/or trained with experience in Workday Core & Advanced Compensation and one of the following: US Payroll, Benefits, Talent Management, or Security.
