This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Spearhead the execution and continual advancement of wellness initiatives that support the Federal Indian Hospital Settlement.
• Base wellness support on Indigenous worldviews, cultural safety, and principles of trauma-informed care.
• Supervise the creation and implementation of holistic wellness strategies that incorporate Indigenous perspectives, healing-centered methodologies, and culturally relevant practices into the organization's culture and program delivery.
• Design and facilitate wellness initiatives rooted in cultural context, including workshops, sharing circles, and healing-centered assistance.
• Offer guidance and support for complex wellness scenarios utilizing trauma-informed and culturally safe methods.
• Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to embed wellness practices throughout programs and organizational operations.
• Develop and sustain culturally safe environments that promote employee wellbeing and address systemic barriers.
• Engage with employees to discern wellness needs and convert feedback into actionable support and programming.
• Assess and evaluate wellness initiatives employing culturally appropriate and community-informed approaches.
• Work in partnership with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and internal stakeholders to enhance wellness programming.
• Foster organizational learning through training, coaching, and wellness-oriented leadership support.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in developing and implementing wellness programs rooted in holistic and Indigenous methodologies.
• Post-secondary education in Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Psychology, Health Promotion, or a related field, or a comparable combination of lived and community experience.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and the effects of intergenerational trauma.
• Proven experience in working within trauma-informed and healing-centered environments.
• Capability to create culturally safe and inclusive environments that encourage trust, respect, and relationship-building.
• Experience collaborating with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous communities in a professional capacity.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management abilities.
• Proficiency in working both independently and collaboratively within a remote team setting.
• Experience in managing multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders concurrently.
• Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• A thoughtful, relational, and empathetic approach to leadership and employee support.
• Training in trauma-informed practice, mental wellness, or vicarious trauma is considered advantageous.
• Familiarity with the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework and other Indigenous wellness models is seen as a benefit.
