Senior Manager, Firefox Mobile Test Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Collaborating with senior mobile leadership, you will establish and take ownership of Firefox Mobile’s comprehensive quality strategy – viewed not merely as a set of metrics to report but as a product outcome to drive.

• Oversee our Test Automation Engineering efforts, ensuring we prioritize the most impactful tasks and identify bugs earlier in the process, in close partnership with our iOS and Android development teams.

• Supervise our observability initiatives, which include dashboards and automated reporting that provide engineers with early insights into quality regressions, crash trends, and indicators of product health.

• Direct our exploratory testing initiatives, encompassing the teaching of exploratory testing techniques and the structuring of our exploratory testing program.

• Collaborate closely with Product, UX, and Engineering leadership to identify quality deficiencies and advocate for solutions – representing the user's viewpoint in technical discussions.

• Manage and support a geographically distributed team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in test engineering, including more than 5 years in technical management positions.

• A sincere philosophy regarding software quality – you possess strong opinions on exploratory testing, test automation strategies, and how to cultivate teams that genuinely enhance products and processes.

• Experience in building or significantly transforming a testing practice, with hands-on expertise in exploratory testing techniques and test automation methods.

• Proven track record of fostering collaborative relationships with development teams and influencing engineers' perspectives on quality – without having to manage all testing personally.

• Capability to synthesize both qualitative and quantitative indicators (such as crash rates, store ratings, user feedback, and test outcomes) into a unified understanding of product health and a clear set of priorities.

• Excellent communication skills and a history of effective collaboration with Product, UX, and senior engineering leadership.

• Ability to grow and scale a distributed team comprised of members with diverse skills and backgrounds.
