Senior Manager, Firefox Mobile Test Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Collaborating with senior mobile leadership, you will establish and take ownership of Firefox Mobile’s comprehensive quality strategy – viewing it as a product outcome rather than merely a set of metrics to report.

• Oversee our Test Automation Engineering efforts, ensuring we prioritize and recognize the most impactful work while identifying bugs earlier in the development process, in close collaboration with our iOS and Android development teams.

• Supervise our observability initiatives, which include dashboards and automated reporting that provide engineers with early insights into quality regressions, crash trends, and signals regarding product health.

• Direct our exploratory testing initiatives, which encompass teaching exploratory testing techniques and organizing our exploratory testing program.

• Collaborate closely with Product, UX, and Engineering leadership to pinpoint quality deficiencies and advocate for solutions – representing the user's viewpoint in technical discussions.

• Lead and support a geographically distributed team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in test engineering, including more than 5 years in technical management positions.

• A strong philosophy regarding software quality – you have insights on exploratory testing, test automation strategies, and methods for building teams that genuinely enhance products and processes.

• Proven experience in establishing or significantly transforming a testing practice, with practical knowledge of exploratory testing techniques and test automation methodologies.

• A history of fostering collaborative relationships with development teams and influencing engineers' perspectives on quality – without handling all testing responsibilities yourself.

• Capability to integrate qualitative and quantitative data (such as crash rates, store ratings, user feedback, and test outcomes) into a cohesive understanding of product health and a clear set of priorities.

• Excellent communication skills and a proven history of effective collaboration with Product, UX, and senior engineering leadership.

• Ability to develop and scale a distributed team composed of individuals with diverse skills and backgrounds.
