This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take charge of scaling accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, and tax functions.
• Manage the complete accounting cycle and lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
• Oversee the general ledger, chart of accounts, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial statements.
• Handle external review/audit processes and coordinate with third-party firms.
• Manage cash operations, treasury functions, liquidity forecasting, and banking relationships.
• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, profit-sharing calculations, payroll, spend controls, and vendor management.
• Develop and maintain scalable billing, revenue reconciliation, and financial systems.
• Create and manage the financial model, budget, rolling forecast, KPI reporting, variance analysis, and long-term planning.
• Collaborate on strategic planning, scenario modeling, pricing, resource allocation, and business case evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, payroll, and sales tax regulations.
• Optimize the finance technology stack and implement scalable systems.
• Establish a single source of truth for both financial and operational data.
• Promote automation, process enhancements, dashboards, self-service reporting, and documentation of standard operating procedures.
• Identify opportunities to utilize AI tools for increased automation and efficiency.
• Report directly to the COO while overseeing a small offshore team and accounts receivable specialists.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA certification.
• 7–10 years of progressive finance experience, including roles in public accounting and/or high-growth companies.
• Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
• Hands-on experience managing month-end closing and financial reporting activities.
• Experience leading audits, conducting due diligence, and performing business reviews with executive teams.
• Strong systems-oriented mindset and technical skills.
• Ability to directly engage with accounting tools and independently create automations and integrations.
• Detail-oriented with the capability to reconcile financial data accurately.
• Skilled at establishing structure, automating processes, documenting workflows, and creating repeatable systems.
• Proficient in explaining financial concepts to stakeholders without finance backgrounds.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous situations and fast-paced environments.
• Preferred: experience within technology, SaaS, or startup settings.
• Preferred: served as the first or sole owner of accounting and finance in a high-growth organization.
