This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia.
• Accountable for supporting public relations initiatives within the Defense portfolio of RTX across the three business sectors as necessary.
• Tasked with creating and implementing strategic public relations and media plans that align with business priorities.
• Engaging with and presenting ideas to pertinent media representatives.
• Cultivating new connections with journalists.
• Identifying fresh story concepts and preparing briefing documents and press releases.
• Managing crisis situations effectively.
• Securing thoughtful and strategic earned media coverage.
• Ensuring critical business and campaign messages are communicated accurately through appropriate channels.
• Drafting and executing strategic defense PR campaigns in accordance with business objectives.
• Maintaining and nurturing relationships with relevant defense and niche trade media.
• Staying informed about the changing news landscape and reporting significant media risks and opportunities.
• Providing media training for relevant leaders and spokespeople for upcoming media interactions.
• Managing, developing, pitching, and supervising company media engagements.
• Handling crisis communications as required across the supported portfolios.
• Connecting insights across RTX business units and campaigns to narrate a broader, cohesive RTX story as part of a strategic PR framework.
• Composing press releases, briefing documents, and media coverage reports for relevant businesses and campaigns.
• Overseeing project management and collaboration to ensure all initiatives are delivered on time and within scope.
• Adopting a data-driven approach and collaborating with the analytics team to establish meaningful metrics.
• Utilizing analytics to enhance ROI on recommended channel activities.
• Collaborating across the communications team, working with relevant Centers of Excellence to craft compelling narratives, approve talking points, and ensure alignment on pertinent campaigns and crisis communication strategies.
• A University Degree or equivalent experience and at least 10 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience.
• Familiarity with and experience in the aerospace and defense sector.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and social communication abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities.
• A keen attention to detail and thoroughness, alongside a sense of urgency, strong work ethic, and a positive demeanor.
• Strong executive presence, with experience in executive coaching or counseling.
• Proven ability to effectively interact with all employee levels, leadership, and external organizations.
• Demonstrated success in working efficiently within cross-functional teams.
• Proven capability to work independently, manage time and resources effectively, organize, and prioritize tasks across multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines.
• Displaying agility and adaptability to shifts in direction.
• Proven track record of balancing and delivering on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of Associated Press writing style.
