Senior Manager, Data Science – Digital Transformation, Manufacturing

📋 Description

• Lead the delivery, development, and technical strategy of applied data science initiatives for industrial and manufacturing clients.

• Take responsibility for delivery and commercial results while nurturing data scientists, consultants, and engineers.

• Convert plant-floor and enterprise manufacturing challenges into production-quality models.

• Oversee delivery across a range of data science projects, managing scope, staffing, scheduling, quality, margin, and risk.

• Act as a senior authority on projects by providing guidance on use-case selection, modeling strategies, architecture, and outcomes.

• Spearhead proof-of-concept initiatives and facilitate the transition from pilot to full-scale production deployment.

• Handle delivery escalations and necessary adjustments; implement measurable acceptance criteria.

• Cultivate and strengthen executive relationships within manufacturing accounts.

• Drive customer co-innovation initiatives.

• Lead pursuit and proposal efforts, which include opportunity shaping, scope and estimates, SOWs, and change orders.

• Assist sales and account leadership in origination and expansion efforts.

• Direct delivery teams; mentor and develop staff members.

• Create services, software offerings, reusable assets, accelerators, and methodologies.

• Enhance the practice's applied AI capabilities in industrial settings.

• Collaborate with internal teams and ecosystem partners to shape solutions and market offerings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; Rockwell Automation will not sponsor individuals for employment visas for this job opening, now or in the future.

• Willingness to travel to client locations.

• Advanced degree (Masters/PhD) in a quantitative discipline is preferred.

• Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in a delivery role.

• 5+ years in a client-facing consulting, professional services, or internal consulting role, including ownership of engagement scope, budget, and margin.

• Proven delivery experience in a manufacturing, industrial, energy, or process-intensive environment.

• In-depth hands-on experience with the modern ML stack; production experience with time-series, forecasting, optimization, or control-adjacent modeling.

• Experience in deploying models into sustained operation (MLOps, monitoring, retraining, and handover to client teams).

• Ability to translate technical results into executive-ready recommendations and defend them under scrutiny.

• Direct experience with industrial data operations, model predictive control, advanced process control, or digital twin implementations.

• Familiarity with industrial data infrastructure: historians (PI, FactoryTalk), MES/SCADA, ISA-95 context, edge/cloud data pipelines.

• Previous experience in consulting or a similar industrial-AI practice.

• Proven track record of building and scaling a team from a small base.
