This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Facilitate the ideation, proactive sourcing, and prioritization of acquisition and partnership opportunities in collaboration with the VP.
• Create and sustain market maps along with a dynamic M&A pipeline across key verticals and adjacent products.
• Take ownership of target list creation and oversee pipeline tracking from start to finish.
• Develop outreach materials and promote proactive engagement with outbound opportunities.
• Evaluate opportunities presented by bankers, founders, and private equity sponsors.
• Manage relationships with bankers and intermediaries at the operational level.
• Assist in and lead meetings with potential acquisition targets.
• Generate regular updates on the pipeline, report on deal status, and compile market intelligence summaries for leadership and the board.
• Support thorough internal subject matter expert and customer diligence to assess potential acquisition or partnership opportunities.
• Assess considerations for building, buying, or partnering, including strategic fit, product alignment, and financial implications of targets.
• Work collaboratively across functions including product, engineering, legal, finance, executive leadership, and the board to evaluate and progress deals.
• Construct financial models, commercial cases, and decision-making frameworks for key stakeholders.
• Prepare and present deal materials to executive leadership and the board.
• Assist with transaction execution and deal structuring, encompassing timeline management, process coordination, advisor interactions, and approval workflows.
• Contribute to closing activities and post-close integration transition workstreams.
• Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
• Approximately 5 years of relevant experience in private equity, corporate development, venture capital/growth equity, investment banking, or management consulting (with a focus on transactions/diligence).
• Proven experience in sourcing, deal origination, and conducting commercial and financial diligence.
• Preference for candidates with experience in PE-backed environments and software sectors.
• Enthusiastic about sourcing and outbound outreach rather than merely reactive deal work.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities; substantial financial modeling experience is essential.
• Exceptional attention to detail while maintaining a strategic perspective.
• Demonstrated self-starter with the capacity to manage multiple large-scale projects and deal executions concurrently in a deadline-oriented environment.
• Sound business judgement and the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced and ambiguous settings.
• Clear, concise, and persuasive written and verbal communication skills.
