
Senior Manager, Communications, Resilient Forests

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create narratives that highlight the American Forests' Resilient Forests initiatives in alignment with overarching marketing and communications objectives.
• Identify and evaluate stories within the Resilient Forests portfolio, particularly focusing on public-lands initiatives.
• Generate web content, articles, blog posts, magazine features, and multimedia storytelling.
• Develop narratives that connect individuals with expansive natural landscapes and the benefits of forests.
• Act as the communications lead on Resilient Forests event-planning working groups.
• Oversee communications coverage for events, site visits, launches, and partner engagements.
• Assist in the creation of program publications and presentation materials.
• Identify, develop, and support opportunities for press and earned media.
• Produce communications materials associated with funding and project scopes.
• Aid in the creation of educational content that highlights field teams and partnerships.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with communications requirements linked to funding and obligations.
• Develop essential messaging and marketing tools to support program objectives and strategies.
• Simplify complex forestry and restoration topics into easily understood messaging.
• Manage relationships with external communications contractors, including oversight of contracts and deliverables.
• Report to the Vice President of Communications and collaborate with teams across Communications, Philanthropy, Operations, and Programs.
• A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in policy communications, forestry, reforestation, wildfire resilience, or natural resource management.
• A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience with progressively increasing responsibilities and achievements.
• Experience in communications and a solid understanding of forestry, natural resource conservation, or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with public land management agencies, Tribal nations, and rural communities.
• Proficient in science communication, making technical forestry or restoration subjects accessible.
• Experience in web-based storytelling and photojournalism.
• Skills in photography, video, or multimedia production.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities across web, print, and multimedia platforms.
• Competence in presentation design.
• Capability to translate complex or technical information into engaging narratives for diverse audiences.
• Experience in producing communications materials for funded initiatives or specified scopes of work.
• Background in coordinating events, publications, media, and press activities.
• Experience in managing external communications contractors, including videographers and photographers.
• Strong project management capabilities for handling multiple priorities, deadlines, and details concurrently.
• Ability to work remotely from the United States.
