This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Influence how Affirm is represented in the market's coverage and discussions, articulating what distinguishes it from traditional credit and newer competitors as the industry progresses.
• Foster confidence in the business by narrating the story behind the figures – in collaboration with Investor Relations, Finance, and Capital Markets – advocating for a model that thrives on consumer success rather than pitfalls.
• Spearhead communications regarding the key milestones that define the organization, including earnings, funding, partnerships, and significant business developments. Maintain momentum between these milestones to enhance credibility rather than starting anew with each news item.
• Gain the trust of business and financial journalists, producers, and podcasters covering the company across both traditional and digital media, setting the agenda and becoming their go-to source.
• Advise and equip executives during critical moments, from media interviews to speaking engagements, providing them with the necessary messaging and briefing materials.
• Ensure that the business and financial narrative aligns seamlessly with Affirm's overall messaging, so the company consistently presents a unified voice across all platforms.
• Extensive experience in corporate and financial communications: 12+ years in the field, ideally with a background in both a dynamic, high-growth company and a public entity.
• Established media connections: strong relationships with national business and financial journalists, producers, and podcasters, coupled with the credibility to be a trusted voice.
• Market insight: a deep understanding of how the market interprets a public company, encompassing earnings, capital markets, and disclosure practices.
• Proficiency in interpreting the narrative behind the numbers: someone who can quickly analyze complex financial data and credit metrics, understand their implications, and translate them into a coherent, defensible story that resonates with reporters and analysts.
• Exceptional writing skills: the capability to communicate intricate financial topics in a clear, accurate, and engaging manner.
• Proactive approach: a tendency to create narratives rather than merely responding to them.
• Sound judgment: poise during high-pressure, high-visibility situations, with the ability to act swiftly while maintaining trust.
• Operational expertise: the ability to maintain order and precision during critical moments, ensuring that nothing is overlooked when it matters most.
• Collaborative spirit: strong working relationships across Communications, Investor Relations, Finance, Legal, and Policy departments.
