This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee multiple accounting teams or a single intricate functional area.
• Manage the entire general ledger closing cycle.
• Offer technical accounting guidance across a wide range of responsibilities.
• Coach, develop, and hold accounting staff accountable for their team results.
• Align priorities, resources, and workflows within the managed groups.
• Review complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules.
• Act as an escalation point for accounting inquiries and investigate complex or non-standard transactions.
• Foster consensus on accounting methodologies and resolve dependencies between teams.
• Ensure that closing deliverables adhere to quality, accuracy, and timeliness standards.
• Supervise SOX documentation and testing, coordinating with internal audit.
• Serve as the primary management liaison for external auditors.
• Identify and address control weaknesses.
• Lead initiatives for improving the closing process, including automation, standardization, and efficiency enhancements.
• Collaborate with the Controller, FP&A, tax, legal, and operational teams.
• Assist with ERP enhancements and integrations with operational data sources.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
• Generally, 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 3+ years in a managerial role overseeing other managers or multiple accounting teams, or equivalent work experience.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
• CPA license is highly preferred.
• Experience in a public company setting with direct coordination of Big 4 audits.
• Previous experience in leading accounting system implementation or enhancement projects.
• Proven history of developing accounting managers and creating high-performing accounting teams.
• Equivalent education or training in accounting, finance, or a related field may be accepted in place of a formal degree.
• Strong technical understanding of US GAAP, particularly ASC 360, ASC 842, and financial closing processes.
• Demonstrated capability to manage several accounting teams, nurture managers, and promote cross-team accountability in a closing-cycle environment.
• Extensive experience with SOX 404 compliance, covering control design, documentation, testing, and remediation.
• Proficient in ERP systems like NetSuite and possess strong data analysis skills.
• Exceptional communication and influencing abilities; capacity to build consensus among teams and cross-functional partners.
• Up to 15% travel may be necessary.
