This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +1 more state.
• Identify and assess potential new donors, typically with an annual giving capacity ranging from $25k to $1M.
• Build and oversee a strong pipeline of over 100 individual prospects and investors.
• Cultivate relationships with a specific type of individual donor, particularly those with backgrounds in the private sector (e.g., entrepreneurs, C-Suite executives, healthcare leaders).
• Forge partnerships with institutional foundations, especially those focused on federal advocacy, enhancing healthcare delivery, promoting health equity, safeguarding youth and students, and incorporating artificial intelligence into care delivery.
• Personally conduct meetings with investors, nurture relationships, and secure contributions from individuals dedicated to enhancing mental health outcomes in the United States.
• Strategize to tailor pitches, framing, and messaging to align with the needs of the National Council’s program teams and the interests of prospective investors.
• Create and present compelling pitches utilizing the National Council’s core materials and messaging aimed at investors.
• Drive the fundraising strategy for high-capacity donors and institutional funders, including customized cultivation journeys, identifying new funding opportunities, and refining investor-facing messaging and positioning.
• Represent the National Council at various events and conferences, both within the mental health sector and in environments where target donor prospects are likely to be present.
• Travel to engage with donors in person, particularly in regions with a high concentration of Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals (e.g., New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Bay Area, Boston, Seattle, D.C.). A willingness to travel up to 30% of the time is essential.
• Over 7 years of experience in fundraising, business development, philanthropy, partnerships, or similar external-facing roles.
• At least 4 years of experience managing donor or investor relationships, with a focus on cultivation and solicitation strategies.
• Proven success in securing five-, six-, and seven-figure donations from individual donors.
• Demonstrated ability to secure and manage major institutional grants, including foundation proposals, reporting, and long-term relationship management.
• Proficient in executing effective tactics for donor prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, onboarding, and stewardship.
• Proven ability to independently manage complex donor pipelines and advance prospects through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship phases.
• Comfort and experience soliciting contributions from Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals.
• In-depth understanding of navigating large foundations, including bureaucratic processes and writing grant proposals and reports.
• Experience in organizing fundraising events and webinars.
• Capability to lead high-stakes meetings with credibility and strategic insight.
• Highly autonomous with sound judgment, able to navigate ambiguity, and manage complex donor relationships in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience meeting ambitious annual fundraising objectives and managing portfolio performance metrics.
• Exceptional written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to compose effective emails, proposals, and grant reports.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to engage credibly with CEOs, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, foundation executives, and board members.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Tools (Documents, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) and CRM systems (e.g., iWave, Airtable).
