Senior Machine Learning Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, design, and implement effective machine learning solutions for pricing and shipping.

• Develop solutions that encompass prediction and decision-making within business constraints.

• Oversee the production and scaling of models in collaboration with ML and backend engineers.

• Gather requirements from stakeholders involved in Pricing and Shipping.

• Spearhead the design of machine learning solutions aimed at addressing applied business challenges.

• Establish and execute large-scale experiments to validate hypotheses and inform model and product enhancements.

• Ensure the statistical rigor and practical relevance of experiments conducted.

• Stay informed on applied research and actively contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best practices in ML.

• Implement new methodologies for prediction, causal inference, and optimization.

• Engage in technical whiteboarding sessions, planning, and roadmapping activities.

• Articulate technical insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Assume ownership of significant projects, guide the technical direction, and mentor team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Machine Learning Scientist, demonstrating a successful history of delivering and scaling models that tackle complex, real-world issues.

• Profound knowledge of machine learning principles with hands-on experience in production environments.

• Proficient in using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or gradient boosting libraries.

• Experience in causal inference, uplift modeling, or optimization within constraints.

• Strong Python programming skills with the ability to produce clean, modular, production-quality code.

• Solid grasp of data engineering and MLOps fundamentals.

• Capable of leading end-to-end ML projects and working independently in uncertain problem domains.

• Experience in mentoring junior colleagues.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

• Bonus: familiarity with pricing models, promotions, incentive allocation, or revenue optimization.

• Bonus: experience in experimental design and A/B testing.

• Bonus: knowledge of bandits, reinforcement learning, or explore-exploit strategies.
