Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Voice & Video AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop the next generation of conversational voice and video AI agents that can see, listen, speak, and engage naturally in real-time.

• Assess, modify, and implement speech-to-speech and full-duplex video models, featuring expressive avatars and synchronized audiovisual generation.

• Enhance turn-taking, interruption management, and responses to both verbal and visual signals.

• Monitor emerging research and open-source developments while benchmarking promising methodologies.

• Fine-tune models for various languages, accents, and specialized areas such as medical terminology.

• Construct data and evaluation pipelines that illustrate advancements in realistic conversations.

• Train and deploy models on GPU hardware across Telnyx’s worldwide infrastructure.

• Optimize streaming inference, GPU usage, latency, and serving costs while ensuring quality, synchronization, and reliability.

• Take ownership of features from model experimentation through backend services, APIs, data models, and customer portal interfaces.

• Implement, test, debug, and review modifications across the stack using coding agents and development tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in machine learning or a related engineering field.

• Proven experience in production settings with expertise in speech generation, speech-to-speech systems, video generation, or multimodal models.

• Proficient in Python and PyTorch.

• Practical experience in adapting pretrained models.

• Familiarity with streaming or latency-sensitive systems.

• Experience in rigorous evaluation and balancing model quality, responsiveness, reliability, and cost.

• Capability to make both backend and frontend modifications.

• Ability to navigate through unfamiliar code repositories and trace features to a functioning customer experience.

• Openness to working with coding agents and development tools.

• Strong engineering principles to validate and take ownership of coding-agent outputs.
