Senior Machine Learning Engineer, AI Research

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, train, and assess machine learning models across various research and applied AI projects.

• Conduct rapid, iterative experiments to evaluate hypotheses and uncover insights that enhance model performance.

• Work collaboratively with researchers and engineers to transform leading academic innovations into practical, deployable systems.

• Develop and sustain robust ML pipelines for data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation.

• Improve model efficacy through fine-tuning, hyperparameter optimization, and architectural experimentation.

• Foster a culture of thorough experimentation by tracking outcomes, documenting insights, and sharing knowledge with the wider team.

• Stay updated on the latest advancements in ML and AI research, proactively identifying opportunities for their application.

• This role may require standby, on-call, or after-hours responsibilities during critical research or deployment phases.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline with 4+ years of industry or research experience (Master's or PhD preferred).

• Extensive hands-on experience in training and evaluating ML models, including language models.

• Strong expertise in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.

• Familiarity with MLOps tools and infrastructure (e.g., MLflow, Weights & Biases, Kubeflow, or similar).

• Solid understanding of contemporary NLP, computer vision, and/or reinforcement learning methodologies.

• Ability to move quickly without compromising quality; you know when to prototype and when to implement in production.

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of clearly presenting experimental findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
