AI Research Scientist, Applied AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +30 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct pertinent research and development (R&D) on AI systems, models, and sophisticated machine learning algorithms that enhance physics-based modeling and simulation systems.

• Investigate and apply AI-driven simulation tools to support AI workflows, utilizing reinforcement learning, multi-agent systems, and hybrid modeling techniques.

• Collaborate with research, engineering, and product teams to develop AI-driven solutions that fulfill essential modeling and decision-support requirements.

• Participate in the drafting and review of conference and journal articles and presentations, disseminating advancements to both internal stakeholders and the broader research community.

• Contribute to technical invention disclosures, including relevant narratives, graphics, and participation in patent development efforts.

• Undertake additional responsibilities (no more than 10% of duties) to support the company’s technology and product development initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess an Active US Security Clearance (Secret Minimum, Top Secret Preferred).

• Master’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar position (or a PhD with relevant research projects).

• Expertise in AI/ML.

• Proven experience in applying AI/ML methodologies, including but not limited to deep learning, generative models (e.g., LLMs, diffusion models), agentic systems, reinforcement learning, computer vision, or other emerging areas of AI research.

• Experience in software development.

• Familiarity with object-oriented paradigms and functional programming principles.

• Proficiency in at least one modern high-level programming language (e.g., Python, R, C++, Java).

• Experience with collaborative source code management and maintenance processes (e.g., GitHub, code reviews, CI/CD).

• Capability to work within multi-disciplinary teams in a dynamic, evolving operational environment that includes military, government, and industry partners.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Enthusiasm for Space and AI/ML applications.
