Senior Localization Team Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Localization Specialists, fostering an environment that emphasizes psychological safety, ownership, and continuous development through regular feedback, performance discussions, and data-driven quality enhancements.

• Oversee and expand our external freelancer network, managing the entire lifecycle from sourcing and onboarding to maintaining quality standards, effective communication, and offboarding.

• Convert business objectives into localization execution plans, incorporating market insights into strategic planning and serving as the link between Localization Specialists and Localization Project Managers.

• Assess strategic priorities against actual team capacity and market conditions, ensuring that plans are both ambitious and practically achievable.

• Take responsibility for complex localization challenges without predefined playbooks, including new market launches, AI-human review models, and other strategic projects.

• Identify recurring quality and delivery challenges, uncover their root causes, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement sustainable process improvements.

• Analyze performance anomalies, drive resolutions throughout the process, and shield the team from unnecessary operational distractions.

• Evaluate, test, and implement AI and localization technologies, working with language owners to establish feedback loops that enhance quality, efficiency, and localization results across all markets.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years in localization, including at least 3 years in a leadership position managing in-house linguists.

• Practical experience as a translator, editor, or proofreader - you comprehend the intricacies of what you’re managing beyond just the management aspect.

• Proven experience coordinating freelancers or external contributors across various markets, including their onboarding and offboarding processes.

• Strong analytical skills: you interpret quality scores, OKR trends, and delivery data, not merely volume reports.

• Business-oriented mindset: you link localization efforts to business results and always provide a “so what” with your findings.

• Fluent in the terminology of cross-functional stakeholders: Marketing, Product, Engineering.

• Proficient with essential localization tools: CAT tools, project management systems, and AI platforms (Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude).
