Senior Live Streaming Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and manage comprehensive live streaming workflows for major sporting events.

• Take responsibility for the signal path from ingestion through to encoding, packaging, and global distribution.

• Address live stream issues in real time, including signal quality, ad markers, and SCTE-35 triggers.

• Oversee technical projects from initial concept to launch, coordinating schedules among engineering, operations, and vendors.

• Act as a senior point of escalation for broadcast engineering and live event operations.

• Cultivate and manage essential vendor relationships, including onboarding new partners and resolving urgent issues.

• Create documentation for workflows, runbooks, and system architecture to enhance team knowledge and operational readiness.

• Collaborate closely with production and operations teams to guarantee smooth and reliable event broadcasts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience with Zixi Broadcaster and Zen Master, including the design of workflows utilizing SRT, RTMP, and HLS.

• Strong understanding of HLS packaging, encompassing segmentation, manifest structure, and ABR ladder design.

• Proficiency in video encoding with H.264 and H.265, including bitrate ladder strategy and GOP optimization for live streaming.

• Experience in building and maintaining cloud-based broadcast infrastructure using AWS MediaLive, MediaPackage, and CDNs like CloudFront or Fastly.

• Familiarity with SCTE-35 for ad signaling, passthrough, and verification in live streams.

• Experience with implementing multi-DRM solutions.

• Knowledge of modern remote and cloud production workflows.

• Nice to Have: Familiarity with stream monitoring and quality tools such as TAG Video Systems.

• Experience in scripting or automation using Python or Bash.
