Senior Litigation Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +13 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the lead attorney in church-state litigation across the nation.

• Serve as the primary counsel for Americans United in church-state matters, collaborating with pro bono teams.

• Prepare and revise legal pleadings and briefs.

• Conduct depositions.

• Present oral arguments.

• Manage trials and evidentiary hearings.

• Handle appeals.

• Generate new cases through thorough investigation of facts and law.

• Draft and revise amicus curiae briefs.

• Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior attorneys and interns.

• Engage in public speaking and media appearances.

• Collaborate with various departments and partner organizations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of three years of experience in litigation.

• Significant experience as lead counsel in litigation (for Senior Litigation Counsel candidates).

• Outstanding analytical and writing capabilities.

• Strong oral advocacy skills.

• A proactive self-starter who takes initiative.

• Willingness to travel as necessary for case obligations.

• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with staff and co-counsel.
