Senior Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Integrate compliance into the product lifecycle: Collaborate directly with Product and Engineering teams to assess platform features, create tailored terms, and ensure legal guidelines align with ongoing business objectives.

• Oversee infrastructure and vendor risk: Evaluate and negotiate intricate upstream infrastructure contracts (IaaS), reseller agreements, and AWS/Azure/GCP Marketplace contracts to protect platform integrity.

• Regulate AI and emerging technologies: Develop explicit legal frameworks for features that utilize AI/ML models, with a focus on training data origins, output responsibilities, and proactive adherence to the EU AI Act.

• Incorporate data privacy and security: Work closely with our Data Protection Officer, Security, and Compliance teams to delineate data flows and integrate global privacy frameworks into the cloud infrastructure.

• Enhance go-to-market and commercial expansion: Revise customer-facing terms (ToS, SLAs, AUP) and serve as a trusted advisor to global sales teams during the negotiation of complex, customized enterprise contracts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Legal qualification: A Juris Doctor (JD, LLB, or equivalent) with an active license to practice law in your jurisdiction.

• Tech sector experience: 5 to 10+ years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, particularly supporting SaaS, cloud infrastructure, or developer-oriented platforms.

• Technical familiarity: While you are not required to code, you possess an understanding of how contemporary cloud applications function. You are at ease with learning or discussing concepts such as APIs, containerization, pull requests, and multi-tenant databases.

• Language proficiency: Highly skilled in both spoken and written English and French.

• Practical execution: A proven history of drafting clear, balanced legal terms along with a professional demeanor that prioritizes clarity over intricate legal jargon.
