This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Ownership of first-line contract review (NDAs, MSAs, DPAs, Order Forms, security addenda, reseller/distributor terms, procurement redlines) is established, eliminating reliance on external counsel for standard commercial matters within 90 days.
• A functional legal intake and prioritization process, featuring clear approval thresholds based on ARR and risk level, is implemented across Sales, Finance, RevOps, and Security within 90 days.
• A comprehensive contract playbook containing a clause library, fallback positions, and hard-no positions is developed and utilized by Sales and CS within 6 months, significantly decreasing deal cycle friction.
• Predictability in enterprise deal cycles enhances: legal is no longer a bottleneck for standard and mid-complexity enterprise deals by month 6.
• Commercial legal infrastructure, including templates, self-service tools, an approval matrix, and redline standards, is established to meet Series B/C maturity standards by month 12, accompanied by a clear recommendation on the necessity for additional legal ops or contract manager support.
• 5–8+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house SaaS expertise.
• Extensive experience in B2B SaaS / enterprise software contracting.
• Proven track record in negotiating customer contracts, in addition to company contracts.
• Strong knowledge of SaaS MSAs, DPAs, SLAs, security addenda, procurement terms, and marketplace/reseller/partner agreements.
• Comfortable engaging with US and international (primarily European) clients.
• Practical knowledge of GDPR, privacy, data processing, security obligations, and subprocessor concepts.
• Excellent commercial judgment: adept at knowing when to push, accept, or escalate issues.
• Ability to collaborate directly with Sales, Finance, RevOps, Security, Product, and leadership teams.
• Comfortable in a dynamic startup/scale-up environment that may lack established processes.
• Experience in creating templates, playbooks, approval matrices, and self-service processes.
• Capable of identifying and negotiating clauses related to IP ownership, benchmarking, AI/ML restrictions, non-production vs. production use, and product development restrictions specific to developer tooling.
• Preferred background in developer tools, infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, cybersecurity, or technical SaaS.
• Preferred experience with AWS Marketplace or cloud marketplaces.
• Preferred experience with public sector or highly regulated clients.
• Preferred experience in building legal playbooks from the ground up.
• Preferred experience in implementing Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) or quote-to-contract tools.
• Familiarity with compliance under US and EU legislation is preferred.
• Exposure to equity, corporate governance, employment, and fundraising matters is preferred.
