This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Develop ASP.NET MVC 5 views end-to-end (ViewModel, Service, Adapter, Controller, and Razor views utilizing DevExpress MVC controls) in accordance with the established PowerFAIDS Web architecture that leverages shared business and data-access layers.
β’ Uphold the highest engineering standards by collaborating with Product Owners, UX designers, and architectural stakeholders to transform complex financial aid requirements into clean, well-defined implementations.
β’ Break down intricate product capabilities into specific, verifiable functional changes that the two delivery teams (Nova and Orion) can confidently execute.
β’ Utilize AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot currently and Claude Code as it becomes available) to expedite the team's progress toward delivering approximately 100 web views by the end of 2027, while adhering to Agile and CI/CD best practices.
β’ Engage in and help facilitate Agile SCRUM ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Grooming, Daily Stand-ups, Demos) with the Nova and Orion delivery teams.
β’ Conduct peer code reviews and elevate the overall engineering quality across both delivery teams.
β’ Aid in resolving production issues within PowerFAIDS Web and the shared business/data-access layers.
β’ Follow development standards and security policies, collaborating with our ISO partner to meet PowerFAIDS Web security requirements.
β’ Embrace continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) methodologies for the rapid implementation, testing, and delivery of high-quality code.
β’ Continuously develop as a versatile engineer comfortable with the entire ASP.NET MVC stack, including DevExpress UI controls, jQuery, and the shared .NET business layer.
β’ Cultivate a deep understanding of the financial aid domain and the specific business processes of PowerFAIDS (Need Analysis, Dynamic Redetermination, Audit Trail, etc.).
β’ Collaborate closely with Product Owners, UX designers, and senior architects to assess feature requests, provide level-of-effort estimates, and contribute to roadmap and sprint planning.
β’ Conduct and lead design reviews; partner with internal senior architects for architectural validation on complex program issues (e.g., reporting modernization, file-system interactions, multi-threading in a web context).
β’ Over 10 years of experience in production-level software development with extensive expertise in C# / ASP.NET MVC and the .NET Framework (4.x).
β’ Demonstrated ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders, including Product Owners, UX designers, and business analysts, to convert complex domain requirements into well-defined, development-ready stories.
β’ Strong problem-solving capabilities with practical experience in navigating layered architectures (MVC, services, adapters, typed DataSets) and progressively modernizing legacy codebases.
β’ Experience with DevExpress MVC Extensions, Autofac DI, jQuery, SQL Server, and xUnit/Moq is highly advantageous.
β’ Proven capability to significantly enhance the skills and expertise of colleagues through mentoring, code reviews, and design coaching.
β’ Familiarity with and enthusiasm for AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) and their productive integration into team workflows.
β’ Willingness to travel 3-5 times a year to our offices in NYC or Reston, VA.
