Senior Java Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain backend services utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Contribute to frontend solutions using Vue.js.

• Create and uphold automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

• Engage in code reviews aimed at enhancing quality, performance, and maintainability.

• Participate in discussions regarding service and feature design.

• Troubleshoot and resolve intricate issues within distributed systems.

• Adhere to best practices in secure coding, CI/CD, source control, and release processes.

• Mentor and coach junior engineers.

• Provide primarily third-line support as needed.

• Collaborate with engineering leadership to enhance operational methods.

• Function within a collaborative, autonomous, cross-functional Agile team.

• Work together with senior engineers and product stakeholders.

• Assist in the continuous delivery of secure, high-quality software.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of commercial experience with Java and Spring.

• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks like Vue.js or similar.

• Strong comprehension of RESTful APIs.

• Extensive experience in automated testing, encompassing unit and integration tests.

• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or Drone.

• Comfortable operating in Agile environments with brief delivery cycles.

• Proficient in using Git and contemporary codebase management practices.

• Strong emphasis on code quality, security, and performance.

• Experience in reviewing code and offering constructive feedback.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a sense of ownership.

• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Proficient in English communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Experience with large-scale, high-performance systems is advantageous.

• Exposure to microservices architectures is beneficial.

• Knowledge of cloud-native development is a plus.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, or Kustomize is a plus.

• Understanding of event-driven/event-based architectures is advantageous.

• Leadership or mentoring experience is a plus.

• Must reside in Portugal or Brazil.
