Senior Java Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable Java-based web applications operating on Apache Tomcat.

• Create and improve RESTful APIs and backend services utilizing Jakarta EE technologies.

• Develop and maintain interactive UI components with Kendo UI and jQuery.

• Assist in optimizing and troubleshooting intricate SQL queries and stored procedures.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, QA, and DevOps.

• Ensure security, scalability, and HIPAA compliance across all components.

• Engage in code reviews, technical design discussions, and performance optimization.

• Support containerized deployments and CI/CD pipelines.

• Maintain and enhance automated testing best practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Core Java and enterprise application development.

• Practical experience with Apache Tomcat.

• In-depth understanding of Servlets and JSPs (HttpServlet implementations and server-side rendering), along with Jakarta EE APIs such as jakarta.servlet, jakarta.xml.bind, and JAX-RS (Jersey) for RESTful services.

• Extensive experience with JDBC and SQL, including ResultSet, CallableStatement, and custom database wrappers.

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.

• Solid frontend development experience using Kendo UI for jQuery (Grids, TabStrips, DropDownLists, Observables).

• Proficient in JavaScript and jQuery for DOM manipulation, AJAX calls, and event handling.

• Experience with implementing MVVM patterns using kendo.observable and data-binding techniques.

• Comfortable with T-SQL and relational databases.

• Expertise in writing and optimizing stored procedures, as well as debugging and performance tuning SQL code.

• Understanding of healthcare-related data models, including members, providers, and authorizations.

• Strong experience in designing and maintaining APIs, particularly RESTful services (JAX-RS/Jersey).

• Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger for API documentation and client generation.

• Proficiency in JSON processing, including the Jackson library (ObjectNode, ArrayNode).

• Skilled in using JetBrains IntelliJ development IDE.

• Experience utilizing Junie/JetBrains AI on existing codebases.

• Mastery of getByRole, getByText, and getByLabel as demonstrated in workflows, while avoiding brittle CSS/XPath selectors.

• Understanding how Playwright manages auto-waiting and applying explicit waitFor or expect assertions correctly.

• Utilizing browserContext and page objects, especially for managing multiple tabs or authentication states.

• Familiarity with playwright.config.js, project configurations, and CLI flags (like --headed, --project).

• Understanding of import/export syntax and module interactions.

• Strong comprehension of async/await and Promises.

• Effective use of try...catch blocks for optional steps.

• Familiarity with healthcare workflows, particularly the authorization and referral processes.

• Experience with clinical data (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes), as well as member and provider relationships.

• Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, data privacy, auditing, and security for PHI.

• Experience in modern DevOps environments, including Docker for containerization, Apache Tomcat configuration (context.xml, server.xml, parallel deployment strategies), Maven for dependency management and builds, and Redis for session management in distributed systems.

• Understanding of deployment management through DevOps tools.

• Comprehension of how workflows are triggered (cron, manual, deployment), how secrets are passed from GitHub to tests, and how to analyze artifacts (HTML reports, videos) from failed runs.

• Awareness of the difference between local execution (often headed) and CI execution (headless) and how the framework automatically handles these differences.

• Helper Pattern: manage shared logic across 177+ workflows.

• Proficient with dotenv and environment-specific configurations.

• Experience in modernizing legacy Java applications.

• Exposure to microservices architecture.

• End-to-end ownership of the SDLC.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking skills.
