This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership of attributing Iranian threat actors, entities, accounts, addresses, and their infrastructure from start to finish.
• Spearhead quick on-chain attribution responses to sanctions designations related to Iran.
• Track the fundraising, movement, laundering, and cash-out flows of Iranian actors across VASPs, exchanges, mixers, swaps, mining operations, and off-ramps.
• Generate finished intelligence, advisory notes, briefings for customers and partners, and contributions to publications.
• Serve as an external expert representing Chainalysis on crypto threats associated with Iran.
• Establish the collection agenda for Iran and integrate requirements into collection priorities.
• Convert Iranian typologies into product and customer detection guidance.
• Design and refine AI automation while managing complex cases that exceed automation capabilities.
• Enhance team expertise in Iran and threat-finance methodologies.
• Collaborate with analysts, subject matter experts in threat domains, data scientists, and engineers across various time zones.
• Profound, demonstrable knowledge regarding Iran, the IRGC, IRGC-Qods Force, proxy and Shia militant networks, sanctions evasion, illicit finance, or procurement systems.
• Hands-on experience tracing Iranian crypto activities on-chain, or extensive expertise in Iran threat finance coupled with proven skills in blockchain tracing.
• Background in national security or threat finance in areas such as intelligence, sanctions, counter-threat finance, investigations, military, research, or private-sector CTF/sanctions work.
• Strong grasp of Iranian geopolitics, proxy networks, and regional financial dynamics.
• Outstanding aptitude, judgment, work ethic, and a proven track record of addressing challenging problems.
• Excellent writing and communication abilities for engaging with analysts, customers, partners, the press, and senior audiences.
• Capacity to develop automation through AI to enhance analytical efforts.
• Comfort in working with data.
• Experience in blockchain forensics is strongly preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant analytical, intelligence, or threat-finance experience is required for a Senior position.
• At least 8 years and recognized domain authority are necessary for a Staff position.
• Proficiency in Farsi or Arabic is a significant advantage.
• Direct experience with OFAC sanctions, terror-finance designations, or the designation process may be beneficial.
• Published research or public speaking engagements on topics related to Iran, sanctions evasion, or crypto threat finance are advantageous.
• Familiarity with Iranian exchange infrastructure, crypto mining as a sanctions-evasion strategy, or dual-use procurement networks may be beneficial.
