This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the technical integration efforts with client Epic EHR systems, creating extraction and ETL pipelines utilizing Clarity, Caboodle, FHIR, or alternative access methods.
• Collaborate closely with client technical teams to define integration scopes, troubleshoot configuration challenges, and ensure data quality validation prior to pipeline activation.
• Evaluate client telephony systems and develop pipelines to ingest historical telephony data, integrating it with Epic clinical data within Hummingbird’s environment.
• Organize and structure the ingested data to ensure it is easily accessible for AI and usable by citizen developers working on the platform.
• Oversee the technical integration workstream during the client onboarding process, liaising with client contacts and internal teams while providing clear communication regarding status, risks, and obstacles.
• Create reusable integration frameworks and automation techniques, employing agents, templated pipelines, and self-service tools to accelerate each onboarding process compared to previous ones.
• Implement AI-native development methodologies as standard practice, including AI-assisted coding and agent-driven monitoring, adhering to the team’s CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code principles.
• Document client-specific configurations, integration choices, and automation decisions to ensure that knowledge resides within the team rather than solely with individual engineers.
• Mentor junior engineers by reviewing their pipeline work, discussing integration strategies, and guiding them through client-specific challenges.
• Detect recurring challenges and suggest improvements in processes, tools, or automation that enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality across the team.
• 4 to 5+ years of sustained, independent delivery in data integration or platform engineering, particularly in moderately ambiguous, client-facing scenarios.
• An architectural perspective: you have designed solutions and can analyze how minor modifications impact the broader system, rather than merely executing established tasks.
• Expertise in Epic EHR data extraction, with experience in at least one of Clarity, Caboodle, or FHIR, along with a proven history of building ETL pipelines that include validation, error management, and ready-to-hand-off documentation.
• Proficiency across various systems and APIs, demonstrating the ability to assess an unfamiliar software piece and determine data flow methods.
• Practical proficiency in at least two programming languages (such as SQL and Python, or others), with experience in using CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code in production environments.
• A genuine commitment to integrating AI as a daily partner you manage and guide, rather than just an occasional tool, with the ability to instill that practice within a team.
• Experience working directly with client technical teams to define, troubleshoot, and deliver integration projects, along with a record of peer mentorship or informal technical leadership.
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills: you can articulate a problem, outline your approach to finding a solution, describe obstacles encountered, and explain how you overcame them.
• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
• Paid time off
• 401(k)
• Parental leave
• Career development support
• 2–3 trips per year for client meetings, training or conferences, or internal strategy sessions
