Senior Integration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pakistan.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and manage event-driven services utilizing AWS services such as SQS/SNS, Lambda, EventBridge, Step Functions, S3, and API Gateway.

• Enhance the canonical data model with Mykola to unify data from various sources into a consistent internal representation.

• Create connectors for external partner systems, converting data between source, canonical, and destination formats while ensuring schema and business-rule validation.

• Design robust integrations incorporating idempotency, deduplication, ordering, dead-letter queues, replay, retry/backoff, and fault tolerance.

• Deliver VetLink and subsequent integrations from start to finish, including design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, documentation, and operational runbooks.

• Sustain and modernize existing integrations, which include government/compliance APIs, IoT feeds, supply-chain partners, and third-party software.

• Review pull requests, establish engineering standards, assist two mid-level engineers in overcoming obstacles, and foster their professional growth.

• Construct and uphold systems with structured logging, monitoring, observability, and debugging capabilities.

• Investigate production issues across various systems and trace failed messages back to their root causes.

• Actively utilize AI tools in engineering tasks, applying discernment regarding their effectiveness.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in developing and operating backend or integration services in a production environment.

• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership from design and development to deployment and operation of systems.

• Practical experience with AWS serverless and messaging services, including SQS/SNS, Lambda, S3, EventBridge, Step Functions, API Gateway, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.

• Proficient in backend engineering using Node.js, TypeScript, Python, or a comparable modern programming language.

• Ability to swiftly learn Go; experience with Go is advantageous.

• Familiarity with integration and messaging patterns such as idempotency, deduplication, ordering, dead-letter queues, replay, retry/backoff, and fault tolerance.

• Experience with parsing, validating, transforming, and mapping JSON, XML/XSD, and CSV.

• API skills encompassing the design and consumption of REST APIs.

• Hands-on experience with SOAP, SFTP, and batch-file partner integrations.

• Proven track record of mentoring or leading engineers and enhancing engineering standards.

• Strong problem-solving and debugging capabilities across multiple systems.

• Experience with structured logging, monitoring, and observable systems.

• Practical application of AI tools in real engineering scenarios.

• Familiarity with PHP and experience in maintaining or migrating PHP integrations.

• Knowledge of XSLT, DataWeave, or other transformation languages.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience with Kinesis, DynamoDB, and OpenSearch.

• Background working with government, regulated, or GDPR-sensitive data domains.

• Experience in AgriTech, IoT, supply-chain, MuleSoft, Boomi, or Camel is a plus.
