This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Develop the Framework for Contemporary Learning Development
• Assist in defining and executing instructional design standards, templates, and best practices within NSC’s training portfolio
• Create repeatable and scalable product development workflows in collaboration with product managers and leadership
• Provide structure and clarity in a changing environment, promoting more consistent and efficient development
• Design educational experiences that convert complex safety and regulatory information into clear, engaging, and actionable training
• Establish measurable learning objectives, assessments, and activities that ensure learners can apply safety-critical skills in practical settings
• Leverage learner feedback, data, and performance insights to continually enhance product effectiveness
• Establish and implement modern instructional design standards across eLearning, ILT, vILT, and printed materials
• Ensure all learning products adhere to current learning science, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA), and provide a cohesive user experience
• Oversee the creation of high-quality learning products from concept to launch, ensuring adherence to timelines, scope, and quality standards
• Optimize development workflows through effective planning, documentation, and utilization of tools and emerging technologies (including AI)
• Identify chances to improve efficiency while maintaining instructional integrity
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to extract and organize content into structured, learner-centered experiences
• Develop collaborative processes that foster alignment without conflict, balancing contributions with clear decision-making
• Guarantee that all learning products are accessible and inclusive, implementing best practices for screen readers, captions, and navigation
• Spot inefficiencies and gaps in existing processes and proactively suggest enhancements
• Test new methodologies (e.g., microlearning, scenario-based learning, AI-assisted development) to boost engagement and scalability
• Contribute to the advancement of NSC’s learning strategy and development practices
• Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning, Educational Technology, or a related field
• 5–7+ years of experience in designing and developing learning solutions across various modalities (eLearning, ILT/vILT, blended, and print)
• Experience working in ambiguous or changing environments, with the ability to create structure, standards, or processes from the ground up
• Experience in establishing or refining instructional design workflows, templates, or development standards
• Demonstrated proficiency in instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles, capable of applying them to complex or technical content
• Proven success in designing learning solutions that promote measurable performance improvement, knowledge retention, or behavior change
• History of leading complex, cross-functional learning projects from concept to launch, balancing timelines, quality, and stakeholder needs
• Strong writing, editing, and content structuring abilities, capable of transforming complex or regulatory content into clear, engaging learning experiences
• Experience collaborating with SMEs and influencing stakeholders to foster alignment across diverse perspectives or competing priorities
• Familiarity with AI or emerging technologies to enhance development speed, quality, or learner engagement
• Proficient with eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline or similar) and knowledgeable about SCORM/xAPI standards
• Experience using learner feedback, analytics, or performance data to assess and continuously enhance learning effectiveness
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and inclusive design practices, including support for screen readers and structured navigation.
