Senior Infrastructure & Virtualization Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Moldova.

📋 Description

• Administration and upkeep of a virtualized testing environment (Hyper-V) that serves as the technical backbone for essential infrastructure initiatives in energy systems (HVDC, FACTS).

• Installation, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines, operating systems, and applications within the testing environment.

• Setup and configuration of both physical and virtual network devices, such as switches, routers, and firewalls.

• Monitoring system and network performance to detect and forecast issues, making proactive adjustments as necessary.

• Management of the complete lifecycle of virtualization and network components in accordance with cybersecurity protocols and required patching activities.

• Oversight of backup and recovery processes for the testing environment.

• Diagnosis and resolution of issues within the Hyper-V environment and associated network infrastructure.

• Administration and management of security applications within the testing environment, including endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning tools, and access control systems.

• Provision of technical support and creation of documentation for Hyper-V processes, network configurations, and security protocols.

• Monitoring of technical advancements and trends in IT and OT security; continuous enhancement of expertise pertinent to energy system testing environments.

• Development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans and procedures for addressing significant outages impacting the testing infrastructure.

• Identification, assessment, and remediation of security vulnerabilities as they arise; implementation and refinement of system hardening measures throughout the environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Expertise in Hyper-V (alternative: VMware ESXi).

• Proficiency in Windows Administration.

• Experience in scripting and coding for Hyper-V automation.

• Advanced knowledge of security, particularly in relation to system hardening.

• Familiarity with network devices (switches, routers, firewalls).

• Basic understanding of database management would be advantageous.

• Advanced skills in Python for automating security testing would be a plus.

• A structured and diligent approach to work is essential.
