Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer, Storage Core

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain extensive distributed storage systems that guarantee data durability, availability, and performance.

• Work closely with colleagues to enhance the architecture of Dropbox’s fundamental storage infrastructure for greater scalability and efficiency.

• Contribute to the design of replication, erasure coding, and system lifecycle management systems that optimize cost, reliability, and performance.

• Write high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code in Go and Rust.

• Engage in the on-call rotation, acquiring hands-on experience with Dropbox’s production storage systems.

• Investigate and resolve intricate production issues, conducting root cause analysis and promoting continuous reliability enhancements.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Networking, Hardware, Capacity Planning) to provide comprehensive, reliable, and cost-effective storage solutions.

• Assume responsibility for defined projects and show progress toward leading larger, cross-team technical initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 9 years of robust understanding of distributed systems principles, including replication, consistency, and fault tolerance.

• Experience in developing and debugging production services using C++, Go, or Rust.

• Familiarity with distributed storage systems, file systems, or large-scale data infrastructure.

• Proven ability to write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code in mission-critical settings.

• Experience in troubleshooting complex systems and participating in on-call or operational rotations.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the capability to work across infrastructure and product teams.

• Willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to long-term infrastructure evolution initiatives.
