Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Virtualization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Operate NSX, encompassing segments, distributed firewall policies, gateways, load balancing, and troubleshooting of east-west/north-south traffic.

• Oversee the lifecycle of ESXi hosts, vCenter, and vSAN, which includes patching, firmware alignment, certificate management, and capacity planning.

• Identify and resolve performance and availability issues related to compute, storage, and virtual networks through root cause analysis.

• Act as the technical lead during platform-level incidents, coordinating with clients, internal teams, and Broadcom or hardware vendor support.

• Manage KVM-based or Hyper-V environments and facilitate workload migrations between different hypervisors.

• Automate routine operations using scripting along with vSphere and NSX APIs.

• Prepare root cause analyses, implement structured change management processes, and keep documentation of baselines, designs, and tuning decisions up to date.

• Lead the technical execution of virtualization upgrades, consolidations, and migrations.

• Provide client status updates, capacity recommendations, and best-practice advice.

• Mentor junior engineers while collaborating with storage, network, and service desk teams.

• Function within the Managed Services team to ensure the operation and health of client virtualization platforms, supported by a global network operations center for monitoring and triage.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of experience in infrastructure engineering.

• Minimum of 4 years managing enterprise VMware environments.

• Proficient in English.

• Hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation 9 or vSphere Foundation 9, including NSX, or extensive vSphere 8 administration with the capability to certify on VCF 9 within the first year.

• Familiarity with NSX operations, including overlay segments, distributed firewalls, Tier-0 and Tier-1 gateways, and traffic troubleshooting.

• Strong expertise in Windows and Linux server administration, particularly concerning guest OS, drivers, and tools lifecycle.

• Understanding of storage and networking layers, including shared storage protocols, VLANs, MTU, routing, and multipathing.

• Proficiency in automation using AI tools, PowerCLI, Python, or similar scripting languages, as well as platform APIs.

• Experience in writing formal root cause analyses and operating within structured change management frameworks.

• Excellent client-facing communication skills and the ability to work independently in multiple client environments.

• Previous experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or multi-client setting is preferred.

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in information technology or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• VMware certifications such as VCP-VCF Administrator, VCP-DCV, VCP-NV, or similar virtualization certifications are preferred.

• Experience working with KVM-based platforms or Microsoft Hyper-V with Failover Clustering is preferred.

• Familiarity with VMware Aria Operations or comparable capacity/performance management tools, and hyper-converged hardware like Dell VxRail or PowerFlex is preferred.
