Senior Industrial Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design process from initial concept to product launch, integrating innovative vision with practical execution.

• Work closely with manufacturing partners, marketing teams, and leadership to ensure successful product launches.

• Develop comprehensive CAD models and create Tech Packs suitable for manufacturing.

• Communicate clear, evidence-supported design directions and progress updates across various teams.

• Refine product designs based on user feedback, research findings, and market developments.

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including user interviews.

• Maintain design integrity from the prototype phase through to mass production.

• Create CMF specifications and understand the impact of materials, fabrics, and finishes on product performance.

• Utilize customer data and analytics to enhance product design and user experience.

• Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging materials, and product innovations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Product Design or Industrial Design, specifically with physical consumer products.

• Experience in designing products within a rapidly growing eCommerce company with revenues between $30M and $50M+.

• Proven track record of designing both soft goods and hard goods, including home, wearable, or textile-based products.

• Demonstrated capability to guide products from the concept and sketch phase through to mass production.

• Advanced skills in 3D rendering software like Keyshot (or similar applications).

• High proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Rhino, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360.

• Strong expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

• Practical prototyping experience, including 3D printing and physical mock-ups.

• In-depth understanding of user-centered design principles and design thinking methodologies.

• Experience in conducting user research and usability testing, applying findings effectively.

• Ability to align product design strategies with business objectives and product roadmaps.

• Solid grasp of manufacturing processes and the transition of products to mass production.

• Skill in creating CMF specifications and detailed Tech Packs for factories.

• Excellent collaboration skills with engineering, marketing, and manufacturing teams.

• Strong written and visual communication abilities.

• Fluent in English.
