This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Act as a subject matter expert regarding VA databases, information systems, and their interconnectedness within the VA informatics landscape.
• Utilize project management tools and techniques to effectively plan, monitor, and report on program activities, milestones, risks, and deliverables.
• Implement change management theories and practices to facilitate the adoption of new systems, processes, and organizational initiatives.
• Evaluate both existing and proposed VA informatics systems, pinpointing gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Create and sustain technical documentation, program plans, concept of operations (CONOPS), and status reports.
• Offer authoritative guidance and recommendations to program leadership regarding health systems strategy, data architecture, and informatics best practices.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, which include clinical staff, IT specialists, program managers, and external stakeholders.
• Assist with governance and oversight activities, including engagement in working groups, advisory boards, and program reviews.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of informatics initiatives and suggest modifications to meet program objectives.
• Mentor junior team members and conduct quality reviews of deliverables produced by less experienced staff.
• Master's Degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Public Health, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in health systems analysis, health informatics, or a closely related field.
• Proven experience in supporting large-scale government health IT programs.
• In-depth knowledge of VA databases, data architectures, and their interconnectedness within the VA informatics ecosystem.
• Proficient in project management tools and frameworks (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Smartsheet) and PM methodologies (PMP-aligned).
• Familiarity with change management frameworks (e.g., Prosci ADKAR) and a demonstrated ability to apply them in healthcare environments.
• Strong analytical skills; capable of conducting complex systems analyses and converting findings into actionable recommendations.
• Knowledge of VA health information systems, including VistA, CPRS, and associated clinical and administrative data environments.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills; experience in producing executive-level briefings, technical reports, and stakeholder presentations.
• Comprehension of federal IT governance frameworks including FISMA, FedRAMP, and VA-specific security and privacy requirements.
