Senior Hardware Engineer – AI & Server Compute Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design of board- and system-level hardware for GPU head nodes and compute servers, focusing on power delivery, high-speed signaling, and management subsystems.

• Take ownership of schematic design, layout guidance, component selection, and board bring-up processes.

• Convert system-level and hardware requirements into actionable engineering specifications and platform architectures in collaboration with Hyperscalers.

• Guide designs through EVT, DVT, and PVT stages, including signal integrity/power integrity analysis, design evaluations, and risk assessments.

• Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to transition from prototype development to high-volume production.

• Assist in datacenter deployment by providing swift issue resolution and corrective measures.

• Mentor engineers and set best-practice workflows for schematic evaluations, documentation, and validation procedures.

• Oversee complex root-cause debugging across hardware, firmware, and system integration areas.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 10 years of experience in hardware design encompassing board- and system-level engineering.

• Proven track record of managing high-performance server or GPU/accelerator designs from initial concept through to production.

• Direct experience with Hyperscalers or major cloud service providers is highly desirable.

• Comprehensive knowledge of high-speed interfaces (PCIe Gen5/6, CXL, NVLink, Ethernet), power delivery networks, SI/PDN design, thermal considerations, and intricate multi-board systems.

• Demonstrated success in leading EVT/DVT/PVT validation and manufacturing ramp-up processes.

• Capability to architect and troubleshoot complex interactions involving CPUs, GPUs, accelerators, system fabrics, firmware, and rack-level ecosystems.

• Expertise in collaborating with cross-functional teams, influencing without direct authority, and articulating engineering decisions to technical leaders and executives.
