Senior Grid Interconnection Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Specialize in utility planning and advisory initiatives, focusing on transmission system planning and analysis.

• Perform studies involving load flow, stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transients (EMT).

• Develop new generator interconnection applications, which include the creation of conceptual single line diagrams.

• Ensure compliance with reactive power requirements and create steady-state, dynamic, and short circuit models to support these applications.

• Evaluate ISO feasibility and system impact studies to offer strategic guidance to clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, with adequate industry experience considered in place of an advanced degree.

• At least 6 years of relevant experience in power systems engineering within a utility or consulting environment.

• Proficient in load flow and contingency analysis to pinpoint transmission thermal and voltage limitations as well as to determine transfer capability thresholds.

• Familiarity with transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability analysis, including PSS/E, PSLF, and TARA.

• Preferred but not mandatory skills and experience include:

• Expertise in stability analysis to ascertain critical clearing times, identify voltage limitations, and evaluate power system damping.

• Experience with electromagnetic transient analysis utilizing PSCAD.

• Background in short circuit analysis and proficiency in software programs such as CAPE or ASPEN.

• Understanding of power regions and ISOs/RTOs, including but not limited to: PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO-NE.

• Proficiency in Python, Java Script, or other scripting languages.
