This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and enhance GraphQL schemas within a federated graph, including server-driven UI contracts for both mobile and web applications.
• Identify breaking schema changes, coordinate migrations with leads from iOS, Android, and web teams, ensuring generated client models are kept in sync.
• Develop, scale, and optimize GraphQL APIs, RPC endpoints, and SQL queries.
• Create front-end applications and shared libraries utilizing React and TypeScript.
• Develop fast and accessible web applications.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to architect and deliver customer-facing features.
• Employ observability tools to diagnose issues and enhance guest experiences.
• Establish and refine Datadog monitoring and alerting systems.
• Recognize technical debt, suggest solutions, and maintain high code quality standards.
• Identify production bottlenecks and risks while driving improvements for platform scalability.
• Mentor colleagues through code reviews, pairing sessions, and documentation efforts.
• Engage in the design, architecture, and delivery of features within an agile team environment.
• Compose comprehensive tests for both features and bug fixes.
• Collaborate with QA to enhance automated testing pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
• Utilize Claude Code in daily development activities.
• Perform additional duties as necessary.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Proficient in JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, with strong UX instincts.
• Over 2 years of experience in designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for multi-client product surfaces.
• Proficient in HTML, CSS, and browser environments, including DOM, events, and platform APIs.
• A solid foundation in computer science principles, including data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
• Understanding of large-scale production systems, including load testing and tracing.
• Experience in investigating and resolving production performance regressions, including CPU hotspots and latency in high-throughput services.
• Familiarity with on-call rotations for production services and managing release cycles from start to finish.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation, including technical specifications, runbooks, and cross-team design documents.
• Experience in API development using Node, Bun, Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, or Laravel.
• Background in building and integrating multi-client or white-label platforms, incorporating geo-based routing and brand-specific configurations.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized services.
• Proficient with terminal-based development, Git, and GitHub or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jest, Vitest, ExUnit, RSpec, or pytest.
• Nice to have: experience with Apollo Federation at scale, Absinthe, iOS or Android development using Swift or Kotlin, hexagonal architecture, domain-driven design, relational databases, background job processing, asynchronous event infrastructure, open-source contributions, startup experience, or a passion for sports/esports.
