This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nicaragua.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable FastAPI services and RESTful APIs across areas such as authentication, scheduling, payments, insurance, messaging, and clinical workflows.
• Create APIs intended for AI utilization, ensuring well-documented and secure endpoints that AI agents and internal tools can reliably access in a production environment.
• Collaborate on member-facing web applications using TypeScript, React, and Next.js, while also assisting iOS and Android teams with API contracts and integration troubleshooting.
• Architect PostgreSQL schemas (RDS/Aurora), write Alembic migrations, and optimize queries; leverage Redis for enhanced performance.
• Implement asynchronous workflows using Celery, RabbitMQ, and Redis for webhooks, notifications, and background processing tasks.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems utilizing Datadog and Sentry.
• Write pytest and frontend tests; update Playwright end-to-end tests when product flows are modified.
• Participate in GitHub Actions CI/CD for automated testing and secure deployment.
• Experience: Over 5 years of professional development, with at least 2 years focused on production Python backend (FastAPI or Django/Flask).
• API Design: Proficiency in designing RESTful APIs that support direct-to-consumer web and mobile applications.
• Deep Domain Expertise: Experience in at least one of the following areas: Payment systems (e.g., Stripe), Authentication/Registration (OAuth/JWT), or Healthcare integrations (EMR/EHR, FHIR).
• Databases: Expertise in PostgreSQL (RDS/Aurora), schema design, and SQLAlchemy/Alembic.
• Infrastructure: Familiarity with message brokers (Redis, RabbitMQ) and asynchronous task management (Celery).
• Observability: Skilled in using Datadog and Sentry for application performance monitoring and production debugging.
• Frontend: Experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, and the ability to deliver production-grade web UI.
• Security: Understanding of fundamental principles in secrets management and secure authentication patterns.
• Nice To Haves: Familiarity with regulated data, including HIPAA, PHI, or FHIR.
• Advanced Sourcing: Experience with Terraform or AWS CDK for infrastructure management.
• AI/LLM: Capability in designing APIs for AI agent consumption and ensuring reliability at scale.
• DevOps/Cloud: Knowledge of AWS ECS and core services (VPC, S3, IAM), with expertise in Kubernetes or Docker.
• Testing: Experience owning Playwright or Cypress end-to-end testing.
• Data Pipelines: Familiarity with Kafka or streaming systems, along with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch integrations.
• Working hours: 9 AM – 5 PM
• 2 Weeks of Paid Time Off, U.S. Holidays
• Salary: $6,500 USD/month.
