Senior Frontend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and enhance shared frontend packages, encompassing the app shell, component library, hooks, and typed API client.

• Create and develop reusable, configuration-driven components tailored for data-intensive government applications.

• Establish and execute the frontend testing strategy, which includes component, integration, and end-to-end testing.

• Manage frontend performance and bundle discipline through budgets, code splitting, render profiling, and dependency oversight.

• Guide the design-system strategy across Material UI and the proprietary component library.

• Treat Section 508/WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility and classification-aware UI as essential requirements.

• Collaborate with backend engineers on API structure, authentication, session management, real-time event contracts, and browser security.

• Assist project teams by evaluating frontend code, eliminating obstacles, and integrating recurring patterns into shared packages.

• Aid in transitioning the existing product frontend to the new platform while ensuring timely feature delivery.

• Mentor engineers and elevate frontend engineering standards.

• Collaborate with backend, AI, and DevSecOps engineers on products for defense and government clients.

• Develop React and TypeScript applications with versioned packages, data-heavy interfaces, and streaming chat-driven experiences deployed to secure government environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Over 6 years of experience in building production web applications, with profound expertise in React and TypeScript.

• Proven experience in managing a shared component library, design system, or frontend platform used by other teams, including package publishing, versioning, and managing breaking changes.

• Strong understanding of modern React concepts: hooks, Suspense, concurrent rendering, server-state libraries (such as TanStack Query), and discernment regarding the necessity of client state management (using Zustand, Redux, etc.).

• Proficiency in Vite, pnpm workspaces, ESLint, TypeScript project configuration, and CI for frontend packages.

• Experience in delivering frontend tests utilizing Vitest or Jest with Testing Library, and Playwright or Cypress.

• Background in developing data-rich UIs: extensive tables with server-side pagination, interactive charts, and dashboards.

• Basic understanding of browser security concepts: session cookies, CSP, XSS, CSRF, and dependency supply chain management.

• Strong written communication skills for design documentation, code reviews, and technical documentation.

• Equivalent experience may be accepted in place of the specified degree requirement.
