Senior Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Frequently travel (up to 75%) to military installations to assist with system fielding, integration, and training.

• Install, configure, and validate software across distributed physical systems in challenging environments.

• Collaborate with operators and soldiers to customize system configurations according to mission requirements.

• Diagnose complex system and network issues and ensure resolution is achieved.

• Perform root cause analysis and document findings for ongoing improvement initiatives.

• Work alongside engineering teams to identify bugs, influence design choices, and implement enhancements.

• Assess system performance against operational use cases and evolving mission needs.

• Create and refine training materials, technical documentation, and field guides.

• Provide clear and concise briefings and reports to customers and internal stakeholders.

• Assist with test events, exercises, and deployments to guarantee system readiness and reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in military tactical environments with a solid grasp of Army signal operations.

• Background in Systems Administration, DevOps, or Networking.

• Extensive experience with Linux-based systems and Kubernetes/containerized environments.

• Practical experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., ESXi, vSphere).

• Strong understanding of Layer 2/Layer 3 networking (VLANs, subnetting, VPNs, DNS).

• Familiarity with network monitoring and management protocols (SNMP, Syslog, NETCONF).

• Demonstrated ability to work independently in high-pressure, mission-critical settings.

• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving capabilities.

• Experience interacting directly with end users in operational environments.
