This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assume responsibility for the most complex technical escalations and deliver troubleshooting strategies along with engineering solutions.
• Assess turbine subsystem interactions and direct design modifications or operational adjustments that influence fleet-wide performance and reliability.
• Conduct intricate root cause analyses for systemic fleet challenges utilizing data, modeling, and physical evidence.
• Present discoveries and mitigation strategies to senior stakeholders and clients.
• Establish technical standards for troubleshooting and case resolution.
• Create technical bulletins, playbooks, and guidelines for best practices.
• Examine fleet performance data to predict reliability trends and pinpoint emerging risks.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for Product Engineering and R&D teams.
• Ensure that insights from field performance inform the design and service offerings of future turbines.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and perform technical peer evaluations.
• Travel more than 15% of the time.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• An advanced degree (MS/PhD) is preferred.
• Solid and substantial experience in Gear Boxes mechanical engineering, fleet performance, or advanced services engineering.
• Profound knowledge in turbine thermodynamics, rotor dynamics, or thermal-mechanical fatigue and their effects on long-term fleet operations.
• Demonstrated expertise in formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and principles of reliability engineering.
• Proven capability to influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders without direct management authority.
• Ability to convert complex technical data into executive-level recommendations and communications for customers.
• Significant experience with wind turbine fleet performance monitoring tools and big-data analytics is preferred.
• In-depth understanding of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) processes associated with the turbine life cycle is preferred.
• Experience acting as the technical lead in customer-facing resolution meetings is preferred.
• Published internal/external technical papers or patents related to turbine reliability or mechanical performance are preferred.
• A continuous improvement mindset and a spirit of teamwork.
• Ability to climb wind turbine nacelles.
• Willingness to travel over 15% of the time.
