Senior Firmware Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement security-critical firmware for cutting-edge networking hardware

• Engage in secure boot processes, firmware signing, and cryptographic protocol implementation on embedded systems

• Design, code, and maintain firmware using C/C++ while employing automation and tooling with Python

• Construct and enhance secure boot and chain-of-trust mechanisms

• Take ownership of and enhance firmware signing and image authentication processes

• Implement and integrate cryptographic protocols to ensure device trust and secure communications

• Conduct threat modeling, security design reviews, and vulnerability remediation for firmware elements

• Define and carry out firmware security validation strategies

• Guide and mentor engineers via code reviews, design advice, and secure development best practices

• Collaborate across architecture, hardware, and software teams to ensure the delivery of secure product releases

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in embedded/firmware software engineering, with a focus on security-oriented development

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

• Strong expertise in C/C++ and solid practical knowledge of Python

• Demonstrated experience with secure boot, firmware signing/image authentication, and applied cryptography in embedded systems

• Familiarity with one or more target architectures: ARM, RISC-V, or custom ASIC/SoC platforms

• Exceptional debugging and root-cause analysis skills for low-level systems

• Capability to lead from a technical standpoint while remaining actively involved in hands-on tasks
