This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• The Senior Finance Analyst is tasked with executing responsibilities within a designated Finance functional area (e.g., accounting, reinsurance).
• You will manage both routine and complex issues.
• Specific responsibilities may include generating necessary financial reports, creating accounting journal entries and posting them to ledger systems, billing and collecting from external parties and intercompany affiliates, preparing general ledger reconciliations, and aiding in the planning process.
• You will report to the Finance Director.
• Interpret reinsurance agreements and implement reinsurance conditions.
• Conduct analysis of reinsurance activities for accounting and reporting purposes, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.
• Prepare general ledger reconciliations and accounting and financial reports for management, governmental, and regulatory bodies.
• Analyze accounting data, review reports, and suggest necessary actions.
• Document monthly and quarterly reinsurance activities.
• Assist in analysis and bookings associated with commutations, novations, and schemes.
• Analyze and interpret new accounting standards established by regulatory authorities (e.g., FASB, NAIC, AICPA, SEC, and Allianz).
• Aid in reinsurance and financial audits.
• Support outsourced financial operations.
• Assist in financial planning and the documentation of procedures.
• Provide support and maintain Reinsurance financial systems.
• Identify and record reinsurance transactions through financial systems.
• Bill for both routine and complex portfolios to Reinsurers / Brokers.
• Bill and collect from external parties and intercompany affiliates; proactively recognize collection challenges and propose effective solutions.
• Complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial statements.
• Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance explanations.
• Prepare and record technical worksheets for prospective Reinsurance Insurance business.
• Complete accounting worksheets, journal entries, controls, and reports in accordance with GAAP, Statutory, and IFRS Accounting Procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data, validate transactions, and resolve discrepancies.
• Promote process enhancements within the immediate team and Finance department.
• Participate in company-wide projects and initiatives as necessary.
• Utilize artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g., generative AI).
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in casualty insurance and/or reinsurance, accounting, or finance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products and skilled in navigating multiple systems, including accounting/sub-ledger.
• A four-year degree is required. Fields of study include Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with insurance and US Statutory reporting, along with knowledge of automated accounting systems (SAP preferred).
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and adaptable.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This includes holders of H-1B, H4, L-1, L-2, TN, OPT, CPT, and other nonimmigrant visas.
