
Senior Field Service Technician – Transformers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Conduct inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of power and distribution transformers.
• Detect and remedy oil leaks; replace gaskets, seals, and associated components.
• Repair or substitute radiators, bushings, and auxiliary components of transformers.
• Carry out internal inspections of transformers and maintain load tap changers (LTCs).
• Operate vacuum dehydration and oil processing systems, which include filtration, reclamation, and oil replacement.
• Execute transformer vacuum filling and assembly tasks.
• Conduct electrical testing in accordance with NETA ATS and MTS standards.
• Assist with commissioning, preventive maintenance, and response activities during outages.
• Keep precise service documentation and reports using digital tools (e.g., PowerDB).
• Adhere to all safety procedures and standards set by the company, clients, and regulatory bodies.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Preferred post-secondary technical training (Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Red Seal Electrician, Industrial Mechanic/Millwright, Motor Winder, or a relevant trade/technical background is considered an asset).
• Over 5 years of relevant field service experience with transformers.
• Strong understanding of transformer maintenance procedures and oil processing techniques.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting internal inspections and repairs of transformers.
• Familiarity with vacuum filling, oil handling, and the assembly of transformers.
• Knowledge of electrical testing equipment is essential.
• NETA Certification (Level II–IV) or equivalent Canadian experience/ability to achieve certification is preferred.
• Competence in basic computer applications (MS Excel, email, reporting tools); experience with PowerDB is an advantage.
