This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.
• This position is designed to offer comprehensive occupational health and safety expertise to one of Apex's esteemed clients, a national aerospace manufacturer.
• Act as a Senior Fall Protection Safety Specialist and function as the technical lead for fall protection across the site.
• Assist in the implementation of fall protection measures at a new site.
• Oversee the design, development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the site-wide fall protection program.
• Conduct and supervise thorough fall hazard assessments for both routine and non-routine work activities.
• Create fall protection procedures, policies, rescue plans, and safe work protocols for activities conducted at heights.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to assess, select, and implement engineered fall protection solutions.
• Provide technical oversight and review for the installation, usage, inspection, and maintenance of fall protection equipment and systems.
• Define site expectations and governance for various roles related to fall protection.
• Design and deliver training programs for employees, supervisors, and site leadership on recognizing fall hazards and emergency response procedures.
• Monitor program performance metrics, identify trends, and offer strategic recommendations to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
• A bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, engineering, industrial hygiene, or a relevant technical field is required.
• A minimum of 12 to 15 years of progressive experience in occupational safety, with substantial experience leading fall protection initiatives in industrial, manufacturing, construction, aerospace, or similarly hazardous environments.
• Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) is highly preferred.
• Advanced fall protection training and proven experience in roles such as competent person, qualified person, or equivalent technical leadership positions are strongly preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 fall protection regulations and the capability to apply these requirements in practical operational contexts.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing comprehensive site-wide fall protection programs, standards, and work practices.
• Strong project management abilities, including the capacity to lead cross-functional initiatives from planning through to execution.
• Exceptional communication, training, technical writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard safety documentation and reporting practices.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
