This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Create engaging lighting that sets the mood, narrates a story, and constructs a cohesive environment.
• Assist level designers by offering lighting support to help them achieve their objectives.
• Design and deliver lighting assets along with IES textures.
• Develop dynamic lighting that animates the environment.
• Work together with the VFX team to craft atmospheric 3D scenes using the appropriate color palette and other essential artistic elements.
• Produce high-quality lighting for cinematic sequences.
• Innovate new techniques for next-generation hardware and collaborate with engineering teams to enhance the necessary toolset.
• Evaluate scenes to pinpoint performance issues, ensuring all lighting is optimized to the fullest extent.
• Partner with technical and engine teams to address any technical lighting challenges.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the video game industry in a related position.
• Proficiency in Unreal Engine.
• Experience with published titles.
• A discerning eye for environmental depth from a lighting standpoint.
• Familiarity with a variety of techniques and tools to meet lighting goals.
• Understanding of performance metrics on current-generation consoles.
• Capability to create all necessary lighting content (textures, IES, HDR maps, materials, scripts, etc.).
• Ability to collaborate with artists, designers, and programmers to navigate artistic and technical hurdles.
• Experience in generating lightmaps and precomputed (baked) lighting.
• Keep abreast of technical advancements in Unreal Engine.
• Strong work ethic and self-motivated.
• Passionate about video games.
• Language proficiency: English.
