Senior Estimator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the creation of comprehensive estimates for transmission and substation power distribution projects, encompassing labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor expenses.

• Analyze design blueprints, technical specifications, and bidding documents to clarify project scope and estimation needs.

• Perform quantity take-offs, evaluate constructability, and verify design assumptions to ensure accurate project budgets.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement, and construction teams to guarantee that estimates are in line with project execution strategies.

• Identify, quantify, and evaluate project risks and opportunities; integrate mitigation strategies into estimates.

• Prepare and deliver estimate summaries, bid proposals, and supporting documentation for review by executives and clients.

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of industry pricing trends, labor agreements, productivity benchmarks, and market conditions.

• Assist in contract negotiations by providing cost analyses and value engineering alternatives.

• Mentor and guide junior estimators on industry practices, estimating methods, and company protocols.

• Ensure all estimates adhere to corporate standards, client specifications, and relevant safety and quality protocols.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

• A minimum of 7 years of estimating experience in power utility construction (including transmission, substations, and transmission lines).

• Familiarity with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.

• Experience in estimating large projects valued at $75M or more.

• Proficiency in estimating software (such as B2W, HeavyBid, Sage, or similar) and MS Excel.

• Strong analytical, communication, and presentation abilities.

• Capability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.
